Homeware: Luxuries Lamp

Inspiration: ‘One swallow does not a summer make’

S/S 2015-Radiant Orchid-Pantone Colour There is a short time in the year when winter has not finished yet and spring has not started. The transition time when nature is dying and has yet to be reborn.

This lamp window design references the cycle of life with the idea that a lamp light is an important part of what makes a living space ... like in a night garden.

***

My original concept was to make the lamp out of white linen and paint the walls light blue ... It would work better ... I was directed differently. What came out is neither spring nor winter. The colour of the year was orchid and it had to be used somewhere in the project. Despite the colours, I like the concept. The idea that any furniture could be a continuation of something else ... carpet for example. Like seasons, they can transform into something else. The spiral shape is used in the construction of the lamp and on the floor where the plants are shooting. The rule of 1/3 is used in creating the layout of the display. At a very last stage, spontaneously created the swallow on the sky ...

I was happy with the display after all but will never stop wondering how would it look like if my original concept was used ...

The blue colour that could be used, same as the light orchid

I wasn't original with the idea ... there was someone long before me!
