Graphic design ...

Is playing with lines, shapes, colours, typefaces, moods ...
It is the most functional in the marketing and commercial field.

There is also a more conceptual approach to it but usually less appreciated by the crowd. Still worth trying to play and experiment with.

The History of the Volkswagen Group

A concise overview of the history of the Volkswagen Group. The presentation is based on a few car models which brought significant change in the company's evolution.

I constructed the infographics, which are NOT based on ANY facts - it is just a simulation to present some statistics. The presentation is designed in the free Canva version.

Adrenaline 3xF

Adrenaline is the hormone of fear, fight and flight. It accompanies us daily, and its release into the bloodstream gives us the energy to act. Mental stress, emotional tension and anxiety disorders trigger the release of adrenaline that increases hormone production, especially among people who experience mental health problems.

World Ocean Day

Personal project inspired by World Ocean Day for the 8th of June. The emphasis is on the sound of the ocean and the texture of the water. Despite having limited resources I have created a short campaign video that brings awareness to the protection and importance of the ecosystem of the oceans. Canva and free materials from Adobe Stock Photos were a great help.

Gratitude meditation

For this short video, I wanted to place only female characters to connect with the emotional side of being a woman. The short meditation is uplifting when you are not as strong as you would wish to be. Nature plays its part in the background in combination with feminity. Nature - the caring force where we find ourselves when feeling lost. Video created in Canva and Adobe Stock Photos.

The History of Marketing

The history of marketing from the Ice Age to the present in 2023. Based on and inspired by the Marketing Museum website. Interesting how much marketing itself is based on the development of technology, just like medicine or sports. Even more so than human psychology and customer behaviour. Some terms that seem new to us and are considered a current trend, such as Metaverse, are almost forty years old.

Tips on marketing

Short presentation on marketing tips from successful women, men and brands. Spectrum through the history and present days. It was more of a challenge to find marketing quotes from women, therefore I have chosen those where women are reflecting on life or are talking about their position in life. Men seem to focus more on the tactics and strategies to win the situation.

Imagination

A short series of surrealistic animated images created in Canva in a dream-like mood. I believe we all dream in a similar way, where the impossible feels very possible. Unfortunately, the Google site does not support gif files, which is why I had to upload them on YouTube to make the animation visible. Above are a series of used images in their static state.

Nosferatu movie poster

Cinema noir style born in Germany was an early twentieth-century German art movement that emphasized the artist's internal feelings or ideas over reality. It was expressed by simplified shapes, bright colours and gestural marks.

Cold War-era

The Cold War period was a time of geopolitical tension between the Soviet Union and the United States. The forty years of competition between the world powers were an inspiration for potential space travel.

With this project, I experimented with different colour schemes to work out various moods and effects. For many people, the monochromatic version is the most attractive. I guess the colour scheme options could be endless ...

Cultural poster

Personal project created to express the essence of Polish culture. The wild wisent, the painting Lecą żurawie and Janusz Stańko the world-famous musician playing jazz on his trumpet. Some cliché images never get old.

Event posters

The first poster was designed for The Abbey Theatre in Dublin for a Shakespearian play Richard III. If you are in Dublin do visit the place, they often have great shows at a price as low as 10 euros. Built-in Illustrator & Photoshop.

The second poster was designed for an Arabic-style party organised by my Yemeneese friend to collect fundraising for people affected by the war in Yemen. Built-in Photoshop.

Victorian Tea & Coffee packaging

'The Thompson Tea and Coffee Company' was founded in Kenya in 1897. The company is based in Britain and has been importing its products from Kenya for almost one hundred and fifty years, which means it started its trade journey during The Victorian Era. This time in history was my starting point of concept development.

My vision for creating the set came from movies such as Out of Africa. The British conquered the dusty land of Kenya. Travelling through the savannah they would enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee while reading or writing letters to their loved ones. I borrowed cotton scarves and old books from a friend. Bought the cup and old letters at a flea market.

Irish village postcards series

In the steps of James Joyce

An old Irish phone box

This Irish phone box still exists in Chapelizod. The village is described by James Joyce in his book Ulysses. After reading fragments referring to the place I designed a series of images following the same creative style and technique. The old phone box is one of the very few phone boxes left ... It is useless but creates an interesting landmark of the time passed by.

Chapelizod main street

Each image carries a vibrant colour against the monochromatic background. I wanted to create an abstract, dream-like feel to the series. The town is a ghost town today not much is happening in the village. It is on a route to one of the largest parks in Europe called The Phoenix Park. Illustrator & Photoshop.

The start of my journey with Adobe Photoshop

Furniture exhibition poster

This is probably the poster I am most proud of. It is classic, timeless, and minimalistic with perfect composition and balance. One of my very first Illustrator outlines of the chair. All the rest could be done either in Photoshop or Illustrator. On the original poster, there is a slight pink pattern in the background, unfortunately, invisible here. I could have been inspired by an Irish furniture designer Eilleen Gray (1878 -1976 ) who became a pioneer of the Modern Movement in architecture.

Magazine cover

Having some friends back in Poland that played in bands I was inspired to create an invitation poster for a night with jazz music. I photographed my alto saxophone and used a close-up to get the taste of the instrument and the vibes of the music. The typeface used is Optima. Today I probably would use something less classic, yet more vibrant to reflect the sound of the saxophone, one of the most beautiful sounds in music.

Summer holidays postcard

I guess this image hides the sarcasm towards mass tourism. The tourist stoned by the sun and excited with the idea of being on holiday carelessly walks into the reptile's mouth. The postcard could be sent from any hot place in the world.

'Cheeky monkey'

Cheeky monkey' is an English expression used when someone is being mischievous and playful. In relation to credit cards, it takes the meaning of not being very responsible with money. Careless and immature.

Credit card with 'sheeple'

I saw plenty of sheep in my childhood on my grandparent's farm and I always thought their facial expression resembled human faces. The way they stare at you, frozen, observing your next move. Recently the popular word sheeple (sheep + people) has been used in connotation to naive masses that follow each other foolishly.

Collection of early Photoshop work

Photoshop is a dream creator. It is so flexible with its possibilities one can express the most bizarre, abstract dreams from the last night. Those are my early stages of discovering Photoshop. The top one; the girl with a Magic Hat on is a Polish friend of mine that I met in Ireland and lost touch with. The one with the Earth in the centre is my interpretation of death or loss at the time. The bottom one is my forever love and tribute to water, sea and swimming.

All of those images were created probably around the year 2000 ... when I got a hold of Photoshop. Continuation of the dreamlike images. Below is an image of a Cathedral and my experimental approach to creating scenes and storytelling through images. There is no link between them. The idea was to create very different moods using the same image.

Playing out with formal ideas

At some stage of the training, the knowledge has to be reflected in more practical ideas. As a more formal experiment, I was creating business cards for the professionals that I knew. One of them is my brother's business card and I believe through this image I put an idea in his head. At the time he was studying veterinary and recently he opened his own Veterinary Practice.

The exercise was a discovery and adventure in creating relations between an image and words. The image should say it all on business cards. One does not need to read all the information on the card to get a hint of the profession the business card holder is running.
